ECHO BEACH

ECHO BEACH is a one woman monolgoue about dancing, set amongst a collection of dances called ‘‘dancing like everyone I know’.

Written and Performed by Hannah Sullivan
Dramturgy by Alice Tatton-Brown
Sound Design by Yas Clarke
Design by Annelies Henny
Movement Advice from Dan Canham

Echo Beach is dance theatre that revels in the casual social dancing that is unique to everyone. It is also about seperation, memory through music and movement, and touches upon the fragility of what is seen and what is felt.

Script extract:

I am 12 and my brother is 6.
It is New Years Eve. 1999.
Cheap champagne and a temporary disco.

.

Later, at home, my dad put a record on the record player.

He put on Echo Beach by Martha and the Muffins.

Q9: Track 3
(mum and dad dancing at NYE movement sequence)

>>>> He put on Echo Beach by Martha and the Muffins and me and brother are in hysterics because mum is dancing and dad is dancing and me and my brother are in hysterics because mum is dancing and dad is dancing and me and my brother are in hysterics because mum is dancing and dad is dancing and me and my brother are in hysterics because mum is dancing and dad is dancing and me and brother are in hysterics...
